The IISE Sustainable Development Division would like to recognize successful improvement projects conducted with a not-for-profit (government agency, nonprofit or benefit organization, or non-government organization (NGO)), that supports at least one of the 17 UN sustainable development goals, and utilizes techniques and tools related to industrial and systems engineering, including lean and Six Sigma.
Nominations must be submitted by the not-for-profit organization or project leader (IISE member) involved in the project. If you know of an organization that might be a good candidate, but did not work with them directly, please provide us with their name and why you think they are eligible, so we can reach out to them directly, but there is no guarantee they will be reviewed.
If you are involved with the organization, a submission is the best way to be reviewed. You can submit only once per year per organization, but each organization can submit every year (even past winners).
The nomination package must consist of the following:
- Letter of support and validation of project or improvement journey from the not-for-profit organization
- Project report or presentation, highlighting the following:
- Problem statement(s)
- Baseline data
- Evaluation and analysis
- Improvements implemented
- Results and how they align to the SDD goal(s)
- Sustainment of improvement culture over the years
Nominations are due by February 28 and the winner will be selected by March 15th of each year, and will be recognized at our annual conference in May.
