Interviews from Volunteer Project at SBP in New Orleans

The IISE Annual Conference Volunteering Event, organized by the Sustainable Development Division, is a yearly project where members attending the annual conference volunteer to assist a nonprofit agency in the conference’s host city.

The organization selected for 2023 in New Orleans was SBP, which shrinks the time between disaster and recovery. To achieve their mission, SBP takes a holistic approach to disasters—increasing resilience before and streamlining recovery after. You can learn more at https://sbpusa.org/

They have a history of Lean already, receiving support from Toyota (TSSC) in the past, and writing a book called “Getting Home.” They were also featured in the Dec 2019 edition of ISE Magazine.

The volunteer event took place on Saturday May 20th, 2023 from 8:00 to 1:00pm. Here are a few interviews from two volunteers featured in the IISE Problem Solved podcast:
