Improvement of used cloth retail processes to mitigate textile wastes

Abstract: Used cloth retails have tremendously enhanced the usage of clothing. However, a large number of textile materials in form of used clothes are currently disposed of. This leads to negative environmental impacts. The harm could be mitigated by improving the retailing processes. This study proposes the application of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and fuzzy inference system to improve purchasing, donation, repurposing, and shipping processes that are involved in used cloth retail. The result of the study shows that the disposal of used textile materials could be reduced, thereby enhancing environmental sustainability.
