Characterization of Wave Energy Patterns in Gulf of Mexico

While wave energy is the ocean’s most concentrated renewable energy source, its underlying complexity has made commercial use lag in comparison with other renewable energy sources. This paper analyzes 35 years of historical meteorological data. Through this in-depth analysis, researchers are able to identify trends and wave energy patterns to identify beneficial areas for recovering wave energy for commercial use.
