GIS is used to understand and describe spatial relationships and behaviors of systems. The feasibility of this tool is demonstrated through the application of the GIS system with U.S. Air Force health and personnel records.

Through this application, the researchers find that a GIS tool for healthcare applications could help healthcare professionals understand the geography of a population’s health and well-being, and will drastically improve the organization of healthcare.
