New York’s Climate Change Move – ISE Magazine

Nabil Nasr wrote an article in the September 2019 edition of ISE magazine, describing New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) passed in June 2019.

Informally, CLCPA was called the New York Green Deal, which builds on the targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions as agreed upon at the 2015 Paris Agreement, in order to hold global temperature increase from anthropogenic (human-caused) sources to 1.5 degrees.

CLCPA sets a target of net-zero carbon by 2050, with an interim target of 40% reduction from 1990 levels.

How they will accomplish the targets will be determined by a Climate Action Council in the upcoming year.
