Clean, safe water is essential to the wellbeing of mankind, and Goal 6 of the United Nation’s Seventeen Sustainability Goals focuses on this pursuit. This work concentrates on the current status of water quality in the world, as well as future opportunities for industrial and systems engineers to implement effective improvements for water sanitation.
